Tuesdays With Dorie-Baking With Julia:Buttermilk Crumb Muffins.

Alisa of Easier Than Pie will host the Buttermilk Crumb Muffins recipe for November 6th. So visit her site for the recipe.

These muffins were very easy to make. I did switch out the shortening for butter and I would suggest using paper muffin liners. It would make it much easier to remove the muffins from the pan. Overall, I would say that these muffins were average. They did not seem to have enough cinnamon.

Now would I make these again? Only if someone asked me to.

  1. I found these to be rather bland as well. Hopefully the next recipe of brownies will be better - how can you go wrong with brownies?

    1. Bland describes it well. Frankly I thought it was my least favorite of the recipes to date.

  2. Your muffins look perfect. I don't know how I messed up such a simple recipe. My muffins resembled the Grand Canyon. Bad day for cooking!

  3. I agree with the bland verdict. I didn't get near enough flavor out of mine. I even added more cinnamon to the batter. Ah, well. I can't really see myself making these again.

  4. Sorry you didn't enjoy the muffins. I liked the flavour - maybe I didn't measure out my spices that accurately.

  5. I agree with you about the taste. I liked them a lot right out of the oven, even with the shortening, but they weren't that great the next day.

  6. Muffin liners would have been great in hindsight!
I used butter too and I found them satisfying and simple.
