TWD:Baking With Julia-Danish Braid

This months baking adventure was making a danish braid. The dough is similar to puff pastry, but contains yeast. I also found it much easier to work with. The recipe made enough dough for two braids. I froze half of the dough and with the other half I created a strawberry and almond danish. It was delicious. Would I make it again? Yes, but I would like to try another filling. I am just not sure what filling I should use.  If you have any ideas, I would love to hear about them.

 Finished product.

Tasting time. Yum!

  5. Great combo! I was just eying some strawberries at the market today :) How about Nutella and bananas for the next Danish Braid?

  7. Try peach or apricot jam with the almond! Wish we had frozen half the dough too so we could make another braid this weekend. Smart thinking.

  8. This looks delicious! I went with an apple pie type filling. I love the red of the strawberry filling. I too have extra dough. I'm thinking maybe a pear-cranberry filling.

  9. Hi Lis, the braid looks delicious! I'm as sucker for poached pears. Maybe should should try a pear and sweet cheese or pear and frangipane filling.
