I found this cake to have a subtle taste of lemon and not overly sweet. As much as I love Starbuck's Lemon Loaf Cake, this loaf is at the other end of the spectrum. It is less sweet and overpowering. You want to have a slice with coffee or tea. Plus, it was very easy to make. And yes I would make this again. I might add a little lemon juice instead of just the zest. However, you could take liberties by adding a lemon glace, lemon curd or strawberries on the side.

Perhaps next time I would be able to use Meyer Lemons from my tree. How fun would that be?
Yummy....

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I agree that this is easy enough to make on a regular basis. It's good to have recipes that you can dress up or down, as needed.

ReplyDeleteSo jealous you have a Meyer Lemon tree..trying to grow one since last summer but our summers here just aren't hot enough and too rainey, but I'm not giving up hope...nice job.
ReplyDeleteI am also jealous of your meyer lemon tree. I love the east coast, but lemon trees just don't grow here.
ReplyDeletelovely cake .... :-) and it must be so rewarding and satisfying to use your own lemon from your tree !!!!
ReplyDeleteHi to all commented about the Meyer Lemon tree. I actually live in southern Ohio and the tree is indoors in the winter and it goes outside in may for the summer and fall. It is only 4 feet tall and probably will not let it go over 5 feet tall. I have it in a large plastic pot with soiless mix----very light weight compared to soil in your yard. Even I can carry the pot outside. While it is indoors I water it once a week and every third week starting in the Spring I fertilize with an acidic liquid fertilizer. I do not baby this plant. Thus anyone can own one, unless you live at the North Pole. Lisa
